Plastering and Rendering Prices
When it comes to giving our customers a quote for their rendering or plastering project, it is our aim to be as upfront as possible about how we work out the costs. The first thing we do, is consider the size of the internal or external area and make our calculations based on what the square meter is. Below, we have outlined how we calculate and quote for our rendering and plastering jobs. Please note that the examples given are approximations and we would always recommend you getting in touch so that we can undertake a full and thorough analysis of the area.
Do you offer any guarantees?
For all of our coloured renders we offer our customers the guarantee that there’ll be no cracks. If any appear, we’ll return and repair the damage. The condition for receiving this guarantee, is that we would need to remove all existing render and go back to the original substrate (brickwork) of the property. |
How long does it take to render a property?
This is a question that we get from many of our customers. It would take approximately 3 to 4 days to render a semi-detached, 3 sided house. This includes: 1 day for hacking off existing render 1 day for applying a coat of mesh 1 day for applying the final base coat 1 day for adding the prime and top coat |
What type of render mix do you use?
When we render a property, we do not use a mix of sand and cement. This type of mix is prone to resulting in cracks appearing, 6 months to a year later. If the render being used is not a colour, a base coat of k-rend would be applied and costs £40 to £45 per square meter. |

Example:
A customer has requested the cost for the render of their 3-sided, semi-detached house.
Answer:
For any property, requiring k-rend, monocouche or scratch back render – we would undertake the same approach, which is as follows…
When we take measurements for a quote (which are calculated by the square metre) windows and doors are included. These are called openings and form part of the quote because they require beadwork. Beadwork is a technique used because it: helps reinforce the render, reduces the effects of damage and defines render edges. For a normal sized, semi-detached, 3-sided house; a k-rend, monocouche or scratch back render would cost approximately, £5k to £6k. This equates to £50 to £60 per square meter and includes labour and materials, but NOT the cost of scaffolding – this would be an extra charge.
Example:
What’s the cost of rendering just the front of my terraced house?
Answer:
The price for rendering a smaller house or less area of a larger house will inevitably reduce the cost. For rendering just the front of an average sized terraced house, we base our quote on using the same principle above and make our calculations on the square metre of the area. An approximate cost would be £2.5k which includes labour and materials, but NOT the cost of scaffolding – this would be an extra charge.
Example:
I would like to have external wall insulation (EWI), how much would a thin coat render cost to go on top?
Answer:
EWI can be applied directly on top of the current render, condition permitting. If the current render needs to be removed, the cost for removal is £10 per square meter. A thin coat render is then applied on top of the EWI and costs between £65 and £80 per square meter.

Example:
Can you give me a plastering quote for my box room?
Answer:
We are happy to give quotes for rooms of all shapes and sizes. Quotes are based on the size of the room (measured by square meter) and the current condition of the walls.
Example:
There are a few holes and cracks in the walls of my bedroom. Will this affect the plastering cost?
Answer:
Yes! Our quotes are based on the current condition of the walls, as well as the size of the area to be plastered. Big cracks, and holes will need extra work prior to the application of plaster, which is called bonding. Bonding is an important undercoat plaster as it gives the final plaster something to adhere to. Bonding costs approximately, £20 per square meter. If the holes and cracks are particularly bad, we would recommend plaster-boarding and then skimming the walls. The cost for this is £20 per square metre. On existing walls you have to Unibond the walls before you skim them.
Example:
Are you able to plaster ceilings only?
Answer:
We can and do plaster ceilings only. The approximate cost for a small ceiling is £150 and for a ceiling in a double room, the price is £300.
