Once my plastering has been completed, when can I paint it?
This depends on a variety of factors - ambient temperature, air flow, ventilation etc. Skim coats generally dry within days. Backing coats and renovating plasters take much longer, some of which may appear dry on the surface but are still wet underneath. Please contact us for the best advice.
Can you plaster around my central heating radiators?
Although it is possible to do, it’s not best practice. Prior to any work, radiators should be removed to ensure a better coverage and finish.
I’ve heard the term 'blown plaster' before. What does it mean?
Blown plaster is a term used to describe when plaster no longer has contact, or adhesion, to a wall. This lost stickiness hangs on to a wall and can be recognised by the sound it makes when you knock it with your fingers. Fortunately, blown plaster can be easily remedied. After knocking it out it can be and patched and bought up level with the rest of the wall before skimming.
When should I have the plastering carried out for my kitchen extension?
For the plastering of any major refurbishment work it’s important to get the time right for when the plastering work should take place. Existing fittings should be removed to ensure that the best plastering finish can be executed. This will also limit potential damage that could occur to the fixtures and fittings.
How long does it take to complete a plastering job?
It is always our aim to turnaround plastering projects as quickly as possible. The time a job takes depends on the size of the room and existing condition. For example, holes and cracks will need to be bonded before plastering and that will add time onto doing the job.

The bedrooms in my home all need plastering. How much mess can I expect to see?
We appreciate that any building work can bring with it some element of disruption and we do our best to minimise this and use dust sheets where we can. Mixing up of plaster will be undertaken in a discreet designated area and we will access water from your preferred outlet.
The walls and ceilings in my living room were plastered 3 days ago. How much longer do I need to wait before I can paint the room?
Newly plastered walls contain quite a bit of moisture, so make sure you give it plenty of time to fully dry out. There are various internal and external factors that can impact on the speed at which your plaster will dry. Generally, leaving your plaster for a period of between two to four weeks should be more than enough drying time. Find out more from our blog, how to paint plaster.
How should I prepare my room before the plastering work begins?
To ensure that we have a good area to work in, we recommend removing wallpaper, all furniture and fittings as much as possible.
How much do you charge for a plastering or rendering job?
For information about what we charge, please go to our prices page. We always visit the property to undertake a full visual inspection so that we can take into account current conditions that may affect the price.
How long does it take to plaster a room?
